Mableton's Demolition Checklist, Handled Start to Finish

Mableton is a new city, and its demolition checklist is one of the most detailed around, so hiring demolition contractors in Mableton who know it saves time. Voters approved cityhood on November 8, 2022, by 13,162 to 11,675, and the city now runs its own Building Division. Its checklist of required documents for a demolition permit, revised in February 2026, covers both residential and commercial complete teardowns.

What the city wants before a teardown

  • Disconnection letters from Georgia Power, GreyStone Power or Cobb EMC (whichever serves the address), the gas company, the cable company and the Cobb County Water System
  • An asbestos report
  • A vermin and rodent report
  • A signed owner permission letter and a scope of work letter
  • Four property photos: front, back and both sides
  • A demolition site plan showing environmental controls and limits of disturbance
  • A signed Demolition Erosion Compliance form if the foundation is being removed
  • A customer contract or estimate, plus contractor licensing, business license and photo ID

Everything is submitted as PDFs through Cloudpermit. We gather the utility letters, schedule the asbestos and rodent inspections, take the photos and prepare the site plan so the application goes in complete.

Three possible power companies

The checklist names three electric providers, because different addresses in and around Mableton can be served by different ones. Getting the right disconnect letter from the right company is often the slowest part of the process. We confirm your provider on the first visit and request the letter right away.

An old community with a long history

Robert Mable bought 300 acres of southern Cobb County land on September 11, 1843, and the community grew around his home. The railroad station opened in December 1881. Mableton was actually incorporated once before, as a town in 1912, and disincorporated in 1916. The Chattahoochee River forms its southeast border with Fulton County, and the 61.5-mile Silver Comet Trail runs through it.

Housing from the growth decades

Mableton had 7,127 residents in 1960 and 24,894 by 1980, so a big share of its houses date from the 1960s and 1970s. Those are prime candidates for asbestos in floor tile, mastic and duct wrap, which is one reason the city requires an asbestos report. Common jobs here include full teardowns, interior gut-outs, garage and carport removal, and driveway breakout.

Foundation removal and erosion

If the job includes taking out the foundation, the signed erosion compliance form is required. Mableton sits at about 978 feet, with lots that slope toward the river and creeks such as Nickajack Creek. We install silt fence on the downhill side and a gravel exit before demolition, and stabilize the ground when the job is done. Call (470) 260-8440 to schedule an estimate.
